The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree is a organization focused on giving back to the community in the Central Valley. I focused on creating an app and website that connects farmers and homeowners with with volunteers. The volunteers help harvest their fruit and donate it back to the community where it is needed the most.

Inspiraton for the Project
Fresno is located in the worlds fruit market and it ranks highest for food hardship in the United States. Interviews indicated that many residents have a fruit tree in their backyard and having a group help harvest the fruit would make it to someones table. Farmers are a big part of the community and they also indicated that they would like to donate their fruit.
Interview were conducted and personas were created
Anna is a middle school teacher who needs an app to find fruit owners that can donate fruit to the community because she sees her students struggling with meals .
“I would love to see a food system that gives back to the community and stop the wasteful act of perfectly good fruits."
Antonio is a 52 year old farmer who needs a place to easily request help for harvesting or picking fruit because otherwise it will go to waste.
“I need a platform where I can call for volunteers and donate my crops that would otherwise go to waste.
